Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)? Assist with supervision of all phases of the basketball program--planning, strategy, instruction in fundamentals, and so forth.? Responsible for care and issuance of all basketball equipment used by the team.? Communicate with high school coaching staff(s) and attend meetings or mini clinics at high school(s) to ensure continuity in the DCSD 7-12 gradeboy’s basketball program.? Understand, monitor and enforce district academic standards, policies and eligibility requirements.? Develop players to their fullest potential, starting with the basic fundamentals of the game of basketball and progressing to skills beyond what isconsidered average.? Understand and promote good sportsmanship among student-athletes.? Complete required reports and record accurately and in a timely manner.? Has a thorough knowledge of and responsible for the athletic policy approved by the Board of Education.? Supervise players at all practices and games, as well as in the locker room and on the bus.? Must possess an enthusiastic attitude and ability to understand intermediate-aged youth in an athletic setting.? Work in cooperation with the building Activity Director and with the Director of Athletics for the Davenport Community Schools? Other duties as assigned by administration.? Must be willing to support and implement Davenport's multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics.? Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensureeach child reaches his/her full potential.? Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfullyPhysical Requirements of Position: (HBV ? Yes ? No)? Ability to demonstrate basketball techniques as necessary.? Ability to stand for long periods of time.? Be able to drive school vans to events? Be able to lift, carry, pull or push 50+lbsSpecial Qualification Desired: (Personal Qualities, Education, Skills Needed, Experience, Etc.)? Must possess valid Iowa coaching authorization and submit completed NFHS Online Concussion Course? Ability to communicate effectively with players, coaches, parents, and others who work with the program.? Recognition of the need for confidentiality with respect to student and parental rights to privacy, as well as confidentiality of all conversation andhard copy information? Ability to create enthusiastic, positive environment that promotes future student participation in the program.
