Student Intervention Specialist

Dept/Div: Special Education FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

General Definition of Work

Performs intermediate professional work coordinating responses to intervention activities, conducting research, analyzing data and monitoring progress, consulting with staff, facilitating student referrals, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Principal.

Essential Functions

• Coordinates responses to intervention implementation activities.

• Conducts research and analyzes data.

• Facilitates staff training.

• Prepares and maintains various reports.

• Attends various workshops and training to maintain a consistent knowledge level.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of education regulations, best practices, principles and procedure; thorough knowledge of statistical methodology; thorough skill navigating standard testing protocols, reports and graphs; thorough skill operating standard computer equipment, hardware and software; ability to effectively communicate research through reports, graphs and other visual aids; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, and third party consultants.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree with coursework in education, curriculum, assessment, statistics, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements

This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, frequently requires speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel and occasionally requires reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
