AREA SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNCIL / ASAC Youth Residential Counselor in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Area Substance Abuse Council (ASAC) is seeking a dynamic, full-time substance abuse counselor to work with adolescents in our residential treatment program.i The Youth Counselor serves as a key member of the treatment team by providing services to patients that help them learn to live a safe, healthy, and productive life free from substance use.The Youth Residential Counselor:Provides individual counseling to patients and facilitates group sessionsInitiates family sessions and provides education for to patientis familiesManages and maintains a patient caseload of residential patients; initiates, implements, and reviews treatment plans for all assigned patientsCoordinates patient involvement with other community agenciesAttends training to further develop their skillsHelps to plan and implement recreational activities for residential patientsActs as the on-call counselor on a rotating basis and assist the youth outpatient team as neededProvides urinalysis monitoring on an as needed basisMaintain strict confidentiality, in accordance with HIPAA and 42CFRRequirementsQualified candidates will have a Bacheloris degree in Substance Abuse Counseling, Social Work, Human Services, Counseling or related field.i Candidates with a Masteris degree and/or current CADC are also strongly encouraged to apply.
