UnityPoint Health Physiatrist - Physician - Cedar Rapids, IA in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

UnityPoint Clinic is searching for a full-time Physiatrist to join the St. Luke’s Cedar Rapids PMR physician team.

Our group has developed an outstanding PMR physician team that is comprised of 4 physiatrist, 2 health psychologist, and 2 neuropsychologist. We are currently providing Medical Director and Physiatry coverage for several acute inpatient rehabilitation units in Eastern Iowa and most recently working with Trinity in Rock Island.

This position would also provide Medical Directorship for the 22 bed acute inpatient rehab unit at Trinity Hospital in Rock Island Illinois, and a potential opportunity for this provider to develop an outpatient practice in the Quad cities/Rock Island area.

In this role there will be opportunities to attend PMR provider meetings with the physicians at St. Luke’s Cedar Rapids and opportunities to provide PMR Coverage for vacations at St. Luke’s in Cedar Rapids, Finley in Dubuque, and Allen in Waterloo.

  • Hours: 8am-4:30pm-can be flexible; Schedule may include some weekend and holiday call rotation with the St. Luke’s physician providers.

  • This is a full time position with full benefits; Medical, Dental, 401K/457b, PTO, CME funds

As Medical Director of a IRU program will provide guidance and oversight regarding the medical and rehabilitation issues within the Trinity UnityPoint PMR service line assuring all CARF standards related to Medical director and physician coverage are met.

  • Ensures the adequacy of the individual treatment prescriptions for all persons served on the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, including notations of contraindications and precautions developed with the participation of professional personnel.

  • Oversees the decision making process for admission and continued stay of the persons served on the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit

  • Actively develops ongoing relationships with stakeholders including patients, families, physicians, payers and Unity Point St. Luke's associates

  • Participates in performance improvement activities

  • Participates in program development and modification as well as involvement in educational development of program personnel

  • Keeps informed of the acute inpatient rehabilitation policies and procedures of the program.

  • Participates in rehabilitation outcomes measurement and management activities.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and use of evidence-based practice within the acute inpatient rehabilitation setting.

  • Actively participates in strategic planning for the growth and development of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

  • Works with the Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation to establish written policies and procedures that identify the functions and responsibilities of rehabilitation physicians who provide treatment on the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit

  • Participates in development, modification and deletion of rehabilitation programs

  • Demonstrates ongoing relationships with the medical community.

  • Participates in building relationships with our variety of stake holders: referring physicians, hospitals, insurance companies, case managers and discharge planners. Assist in the marketing and promotion of the acute inpatient rehab program.

  • Licensure: Both Illinois and Iowa physician licenses

  • Candidate to be either Board Certified in PMR or eligible for this Board certification.
