Job Title : Driver Services Coordinator

Location : Onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA (3750 16th Ave SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404)

Job Schedule : Will work a rotation during a bi-weekly period:

  • First Week of Pay Period: Wed-Sat (5:00 AM-5:00 PM)

  • Second Week of Pay Period: Thurs-Sat (5:00 AM-5:00 PM)

Job Summary : Ensuring the safety and compliance of an organization with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards is crucial. Safety and compliance professionals play a crucial role in identifying and mitigating risks, developing and implementing safety programs, and ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements. They conduct risk assessments, identify potential hazards, and develop strategies to mitigate risks. Additionally, they provide training to employees on safety protocols, investigate accidents or incidents, and ensure compliance.

Compensation : $16.50/hr. Starting Wages (Pay Bi-Weekly)

Day in the Job Preview : As a Driver Services Coordinator, your primary role is to handle accident calls by answering promptly, gathering all necessary details while ensuring drivers remain calm, and contacting the appropriate parties for next steps. Additionally, you manage roadside inspections calls, and transfer information to the VRT department for further action. When not on the phone, you'll conduct investigations into HOS violations, and provide support to drivers during their training sessions when not occupied with calls.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Provide safety support to employees and independent contractors.

  • Take first reports of incidents by phone and record information into incident tracking software. Obtain and file copies of police reports, photos, and other incident-related documents.

  • Coordinate incident responses with other departments and outside agencies, from on-scene claims adjusters to emergency towing services, and HAZMAT Response Teams.

  • Communicate with drivers and independent contractors to obtain detailed information concerning incidents and provide action items according to company protocol.

  • Generate end-of-shift reports and distribute them.

  • Perform all front desk duties at the Driver Service Center.

  • Validate and process invoices received from various hotels/taxi services.

Job Requirements :

  • Successful completion of a CRST background check and drug screen is required.

  • High school diploma or GED is required.

Ideal Experience & Skillset :

  • An associate's degree is preferred.

  • Computer Literacy - must be able to navigate multiple screens and programs while triaging on the phone.

  • Adaptability to pivot priorities swiftly while maintaining patience and staying calm under pressure.

  • Utilize available resources to make timely decisions with a sense of urgency, demonstrating patience and a composed demeanor.

  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail, patience, and the ability to stay calm in ambiguous situations when making decisions without complete information.
