Job Summary

Provides safe and effective respiratory care to patients of all ages, neonate to geriatric. Manages the ventilator and performs EEG's.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapy treatments, including EEG's and pulmonary function tests.

• Cleans equipment.

• Maintains respiratory supplies for various areas in the Hospital and orders departmental supplies.

• Responsible for ventilator management.

• Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.

• Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.

• Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.

• Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.

• Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.

• Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

• Certificate from college or technical school.

• Experience with a Sleep Study program is a plus.

Position Requirements, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy.

• Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the State of Iowa preferred.

• BCLS certification within three months of employment.

• Registered Polysomnolgraph Tech license in the State of Iowa is a plus.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, patients, families and the general public.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 21 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, blood-borne pathogens, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Trouble shooting skills in ventilator management.

Ability to work with minimal supervision.
