Job Summary

Manages and coordinates activities and functions of the Radiology Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assures quality of service and safety of patients, employees, and visitors through the implementation of policies and procedures that guide the activities of the radiology staff.

• Monitors activities within the department to evaluate performance improvement opportunities. Corrects deficiencies to meet the expectations of quality service.

• Complies with HIPAA and all applicable state and federal regulations governing healthcare providers.

• Provides technical assistance in establishing and meeting budgetary requirements in the purchase of supplies and appropriate radiologic equipment to meet organizational needs.

• Participates in organizational, managerial, and educational functions.

• Demonstrates the ability to perform patient care functions relevant to the physical, emotional and safety needs and behaviors of all age groups.

• Assists in performing safe, efficient and timely operation of diagnostic exams.

• Monitors and evaluates employee performance and clinical outcomes. Provides educational opportunities for staff improvement.

• Works willingly and accepts assignments as given.

• Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.

• Participates in opportunities that enhance personal and professional growth.

• Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.

• Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.

• Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.

• Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.

• Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises employees in Radiology, CT, MRI, ultrasound, mammography, and nuclear medicine and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with an emphasis in the sciences and/or business.

• Five years’ experience as a Staff Technologist with previous supervisory experience preferred.

Position Requirements, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.

• Current ARRT Certification.

• Iowa Permit to Practice.

• BCLS certification.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, patients, families and the general public.
