Assisted Living DON
The Assisted Living DON is responsible for leading all aspects of our memory care services and our strategic wellness operations by driving our vision, philosophy, programming and delivery.
Required Experience for Assisted Living DON:
Must be a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa.
Recent supervisory experience within the senior housing industry, services for the aging and/or dementia residents required.
Health care management experience required.
Credential in Alzheimer’s Care, Foster Home Care, and/or Assisted Living Management as per applicable state requirements.
Current CPR and First Aid credentials.
Primary Responsibilities for Assisted Living DON:
Engage in Personal Development Plans, Impact Projects, and work toward achieving your
Keys to Success.
Work with each Associate in your department to diligently pursue the company’s Five Tier Accreditation and ultimately become a Center for Excellence.
Ensure that Standards Reviews have been completed in your department not less than quarterly (i.e. completed at least four times each year) resulting in a score 90% or greater.
Participate in Performance Team Meetings as scheduled by presenting Keys to Success results and the status of your Personal Development Plan and Impact Project(s).
Have a personal Partnering Survey conducted at least annually.
Work with each member of your performance team and support their success.
Ensure that your program is meeting or exceeding Net Operating Income (NOI).
Maintain current and accurate Spend-down Worksheets.
Enforce and follow purchasing policies and procedures.
Ensure that residents are being charged for all services being provided (capture and charge).
Maintain budgeted Hours per Resident Day.
Coordinate with Program Directors and/or Administrators to achieve maximum staff economies and cross training, if applicable.
Ensure that work schedules for department are posted and are legible for associates at least two weeks in advance.
Responsible for all aspects of the program.
Responsible for oversight (administration, supervision, and appropriate documentation) of all medications.
Maintain program standards in excess of license regulations.
Organize, monitor and direct an ongoing activity-based program consistent with company and community philosophy. Assure associate training for activity-based program success.
Assist in care-giving as needed.
Meet or exceed the budgeted occupancy.
Assist in developing the annual marketing plan for the program.
Ensure that your department is capitalizing on public relations (PR) opportunities as
identified in the PR “wheel”, including garnering at least one published news item per quarter.
Participate in personal visits for prospective residents and/or families.
Review marketing materials as requested.
Actively participate in outreach in accordance with the marketing plan.
Seek out and maintain positive working relationships with health professionals in the immediate area of your community.
Supervise associates in your department.
Provide job-specific orientation and training to all associates in your department before they begin their first shift.
Ensure that all associates in your department attend general orientation within two weeks of hire or as required by law, whichever is sooner.
Provide customer service training to all associates in your department on an ongoing basis.
Provide ongoing in-services as required by law and Common Sail Investment Group policy.
Ensure that the HR Director approves every involuntary separation in your department at before that separation.
Meet or exceed the Associate Satisfaction indicator in your Keys to Success.
Maintain confidentiality with all associate information.
Recruit, hire, train, acknowledge, and discipline associates for your department per Common Sail Investment Group policy.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations for your department.
Ensure compliance with all company and community policies and procedures.
Ensure that your department has fully implemented the company’s compliance plan.
Participate in community wide efforts to assure proper placement of residents by level of care.
Review and respond to comment cards for your department as requested by the Executive Director.
Respond to resident requests in a timely and friendly manner.
Meet or exceed the Resident Satisfaction indicator in your Keys to Success.
Maintain confidentiality with all resident information.
General Working Conditions:
This position entails standing for long periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate effectively with others, sit, stand, walk and use hands to handle keyboard, telephone, paper, files, and other equipment and objects. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. This position requires employee to effectively present information in one-on-one a small group situation with residents, guests, and other associates. This position requires the ability to review detailed documents and read computer screens. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The work environment requires appropriate interaction with others. Employee must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Occasional travel to different locations may be required.
