Position Summary: FT-72 Hours Night Shift, 1900 to 0730. Pay Scale: RN ADN: Min: $23.74 Mid: $29.60 Max: $ 35.47 Pay Scale: RN BSN: Min: $24.23 Mid: $30.09 Max: $35.96 Under general direction, protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities. Prevents illness and injury. Alleviates suffering through the diagnosis and treatment. Advocates for patients and their families. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care. Position Responsibilities Respects diversity and individualizes care to meet the unique needs of the patient. Establishes partnerships with patients, families, support systems, and other providers, utilizing in-person and electronic communications, to reach a shared goal of delivering health care. Promotes healing and health in a way that builds a relationship between nurse and patient. Uses the nursing process to plan and provide individualized care to the patient. Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient and/or the situation. Analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnoses or the issues. Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation. Develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes. Implements the identified plan. Coordinates care delivery. Employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. Evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes. Maintains and improves the healthcare practice environment conducive to the provision of quality health care. Attains knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice. Maintains professional competence. Continually reassesses competencies and identifies needs for additional knowledge, skills, personal growth, and integrative learning experiences. Integrates evidence and research findings into practice. Contributes to quality nursing practice. Demonstrates leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession. Practices in an environmentally safe and healthy manner. Actively participates in medical center and departmental teams promoting continuous quality improvement and patient satisfaction. Utilizes AIDET, SAME THING/Environmental Assessment in every patient encounter. Protects and preserves patient dignity and confidentiality. Utilizes hourly rounding standard behavior to provide care at the bedside if required. Utilizes bedside shift report to provide handoff communication if required. Conducts follow-up phone calls if required. Conducts Functional Independence Measures (FIM). Adheres to expectations for safe behavior: Pays attention to detail. Communicates clearly and directly. Is aware of the big picture and has a questioning attitude. Performs effective hand offs. Works together with own team and other departments. Follows standard work. Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education): Licensed as a Registered Nurse and authorized by the State of Iowa to practice nursing or eligible to take licensing exam within four months of hire. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing or in final semester of nursing school. Achievement of Baccalaureate degree in nursing within 6 years of hire if hired after January 1, 2014. HeartCode BLS training, or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment. Mandatory Reporter training or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment. Functional Independence Measure (FIM) certification within 6 months of hire. If hired prior to graduation and licensure, must graduate and become authorized by the State of Iowa to practice nursing within four months of hire. Preferred Qualifications: Baccalaureate degree in nursing. Professional certification in nursing specialty. Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience: Proficient in communication skills. Ability to pursue and foster a sense of team and partnership across all disciplines. Ability to communicate effectively, in English, with diverse population groups. Ability to be self-directed, flexible, and able to adapt to change. Ability to communicate effectively in a professional and tactful manner with physicians, staff, patients and/or their representatives. Ability to read and understand chart documentation. Ability to demonstrate basic computer skills. Ability to read, write and understand the English language. Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Experience: FIM certification
