Mary Greeley Medical Center Fitness Consultant in Ames, Iowa

  • Position Summary

  • Under general supervision, assists fitness clients with basic exercise programs and exercise equipment. Assists with daily tasks of medical fitness center. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care.

  • Position Responsibilities

  • Unit Specific Position Responsibilities

  • Performs opening and closing building procedures, as necessary.

  • Maintains necessary records and sells fitness center memberships.

  • Processes fitness class registrations.

  • Assists with clerical duties including answering the phone, copying, filing and preparing mailings.

  • Assist fitness center members with exercise program while maintaining a safe and orderly environment.

  • Communicates with Lifetime Fitness Supervisor regarding post-rehab members.

  • Assist with fitness classes, equipment orientations, and exercise prescription implementation.

  • Conducts weekly equipment maintenance checks and performs routine equipment maintenance procedures.

  • Greets and registers all fitness center members upon arrival.

  • Assists new members with membership sign-up procedures.

  • Positively promotes the fitness center to all potential members.

  • Maintains equipment for safe and effective usage, reporting any problems or malfunctions. Performs various cleaning tasks of equipment and facility.

  • Demonstrates strong customer service values through willingness to listen and respond to members and through cooperation and clear communication with other staff to meet client needs.

  • Responds to inquiries in a polite and friendly fashion.

  • Schedules massage therapy and fitness assessment appointments

  • Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

  • Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry certification (A.C.E., A.C.S.M., N.S.C.S., A.F.A.A.)

  • Highschool diploma or GED

  • Hands-only CPR competency

  • Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions, ability to learn and assist in the implementation of medical fitness center procedures, ability to effectively communicate with the public, ability to learn equipment set up and operation, ability to work effectively with others

  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for fitness and wellness, demonstrates strong communication skills.

  • Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in fitness instruction
