Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

Iowa State University Department of Kinesiology, Athletic Training Program in the College of Human Sciences is seeking exceptional candidates for a non-tenure track, term faculty Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor position in Athletic Training. The start date for the position is July 1, 2021. Assistant rank will be eligible for a 1-3 year term and Associate for a 3-5 year term.

This 12-month faculty position carries with it the mission of a land-grant university. The teaching responsibility will be within the 3+2 program in Athletic Training. This position includes a service component that may be carried out at the university, college, department or community level. In addition, this position includes the potential for some academic advising of undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the Athletic Training major, meet with prospective students interested in the Master of Athletic Training Program, review, recommend, and implement continuous improvement for curriculum, instruction, and assessment, as well as in the assessment and maintenance of CAATE standards for our program. The successful candidate is expected to establish and maintain a professional relationship that reflects courtesy, civility, mutual respect, excellent interpersonal skills, genuine interest in student development, professionalism, collaboration, problem solving, and flexibility, and demonstrates a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements for Assistant Rank

-Master's degree in Athletic Training or in related area.-Experience as a Board of Certification (BOC) certified Athletic Trainer.

-Be in good standing with the BOC.

-Be eligible for Iowa state licensure as an Athletic Trainer.

-Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Athletic Training.

Minimum Requirements for Associate Rank

-Master's degree in Athletic Training or in related area.

-Minimum of 5 years of experience as a BOC certified Athletic Trainer.

-Be in good standing with the BOC.

-Be eligible for Iowa state licensure as an Athletic Trainer.

-Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Athletic Training with a minimum of 5 years post-secondary level.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Terminal degree (Ph. D, Ed. D, DAT).

-Demonstrated success supervising Athletic Training students in a clinical setting as a preceptor is preferred.

-Experience in educational and CAATE programmatic standards.

-Prior experience with online and blended learning.

Through our teaching, research, service, and outreach efforts, the Department of Kinesiology strives to promote health and wellbeing by creating and disseminating knowledge about physical activity and healthy living to improve the lives of citizens of Iowa, the United States, and the world. The expertise and interests of our nationally recognized faculty are diverse and reflect biomechanical, pedagogical, physiological, psychological, and sociocultural perspectives of physical activity, exercise, and health. Athletic trainers are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians. The services provided by athletic trainers comprise prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. The CAATE accredited athletic training program has transitioned to a professional Master’s degree program.
